Adding input fields

Expose a template property as a control your audience can edit.

Last updated June 15, 2026

Input fields decide which parts of a template the people using your published design generator can change. Everything else stays fixed. You add them with the Add Input Field tool.

To add one:

  1. Start the Add Input Field tool, either from the button in the toolbar or by opening Show Input Fields and clicking Add Input Field in the drawer. Both are the same tool.
  2. Select the element you want to make editable, on the canvas or in the panel on the right.
  3. A popup shows the common fields for that element. For a text element, for example, you can add a field that lets users edit the text, or one that lets them pick from a set of preset texts (a dropdown menu). Choose one and click Add Field.

If none of the suggestions fit, click Select Custom Property. The popup closes, and you then click any single property in the Property Panel to connect a field to exactly that property.
